I have been interested in art since childhood. I started with pencil drawing everything I saw on any paper I could find. As I worked through a career in nursing, art provided comfort and outlet.
In my 30s, I began working in clay, at first throwing and hand building functional pots. Then, I moved to sculpture, using the human form to animate feelings and concerns. Ten years ago I was introduced to painting, working first in oil and then adding acrylic.
Many of my pieces lean toward the surrealistic as I allows my paint brush to deal with struggles and thoughts. I am drawn to portraits of people and nature. I see art as a means of healing and growth, a place where people of different thought or culture can meet to find encouragement and solace.
